Manga has been the entire ruse lately. It continues to increase in popularity, even among the English community. As of the moment, there are numerous manga to pick from if you are interested. The Japanese manga industry has diversity and variety, with different genres that can suit everybody’s taste.

However, if you are a newbie in the manga game, it would not be advisable to pick up a hot ongoing manga as your first. While there is nothing wrong with that, the suspense of weekly waiting might be too much for you, especially for epic manga like One Piece.

For a new manga reader, it is best to start your journey with a completed manga series. This way, you can control the pace at which you read and enjoy the series. I know that when I started out, I tended to binge-read every manga I picked up, and that was only possible because I started with completed manga.

With thousands of manga out there, how would you know which best finished manga to start with? Don’t worry, I’ve got you. In addition to my experience, I have scoured the internet searching for the best-completed manga to check out. The list below contains a list of completed manga that I am sure you will enjoy.

P.S. Finished manga is not only for beginners. Even as an experienced manga reader, sometimes you just need something you can binge on without waiting for any new chapters. This list will be a great asset in finding those mangas. Kick back and go through the list, you might end up liking them all.

Best Completed Manga [In No Particular Order]

1. Demon Slayer by Koyoharu Gotouge

demon slayer-best completed manga

Luckily for new readers, this beast of a manga has finally been completed. Therefore, your manga reading journey can start out with a punch. Demon Slayer has made a name for itself recently with all the international recognition and manga sales (it surpassed one piece at some point, crazy!).

The story revolves around a young boy, Kamado Tanjiro. The whole plot started when he got back from selling charcoal to find his family slaughtered and his sister turned into a demon. He swore to turn her back into a human, and the journey to achieve that is what this spectacular manga is about.

Besides its good story, Demon Slayer is very appealing because of its unique art style and fluid fighting scenes. The manga runs for 23 volumes and is indeed a good place to start for beginners and an interesting binge for old-timers.

2. Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto

naruto-best completed manga

Naruto is one of the OGs of manga. Rightly so, it is part of the big three manga, along with Bleach and One Piece. For people like me, Naruto is one of the earliest manga that got me hooked. Its success as a manga series shows how good it is. You are in for a ride with this one.

Like other older manga, Naruto is quite long and comes in two different titles: Naruto and Naruto Shippuden. The story is about a young child, Naruto, who grows up trying to gain the acknowledgment of the village.

The best thing about this manga is that you literally follow Naruto as he grows up. You will get to see all the fun and sad moments of his life, in addition to his resolve to one day become a Hokage. When it comes to character development, this manga is one of the best out there.

It contains so many life lessons that can help you through your own life. You can’t even imagine how many quotes from Naruto are stuck in my head. One of my favorites is “If you don’t like the hand that fate’s dealt you, fight for a new one.”  This series is a must-read and quite lengthy at 72 volumes although you won’t regret reading it.

3. Bleach by Tite Kubo

bleach

Another big three here. Bleach is a long series that is loved by many, and it is famous for its samurai theme and use of flashy techniques. It is so popular that, up to this moment, its fans are still demanding that the final arc be made into an anime.

Bleach centers on Kurosaki Ichigo, a teenager who is aware of paranormal activities around him. His life took a drastic turn when he met Rukia Kuchiki, a shinigami from the soul society. This single encounter got Ichigo tangled in the complex affairs of Shinigami and Hollows.

Another intriguing part of this manga series is its fight scenes, which are very packed and unique. Tite Kubo is known for his unique art style, as shown in Bleach and some of his other works. Bleach is definitely a good read, and I would recommend you check it out.

4. Seven Deadly Sins by Nakaba Suzuki

seven deadly sins-best completed manga

Want to read something about supernatural beings like angels, demons, and giants? The Seven Deadly Sins is the go-to because it portrays all of them in unique ways. It might not be as big as the big three, but it is quite a popular manga series and has gotten several TV adaptations.

A group of knights known as the Seven Deadly Sins were framed for usurping the kingdom of Liones 10 years ago. The group split because of this and embarked on personal journeys. However, due to the state of the kingdom, Elizabeth, the third princess, set out in search of Meliodas to help the kingdom.

In the end, the story matured as the group of knights banded together again and unraveled the mystery behind their past accusations. Obviously, there is a lot more going on, but I will leave those juicy details for you to find out as you read.

5. Fire Force by Atsushi Ohkubo

fire force

When you ask for a manga with flashy and vibrant fight scenes, Fire Force comes to mind. I was really fascinated by how the fight scenes were drawn by the artist, it was mesmerizing. If you have read Soul Eater, then you might see some similarities in the art since they’re both written by the same author.

The plot of Fire Force revolves around Shinra Kusakabe, who joins Special Fire Force Company 8 in the hope of solving the mystery behind spontaneous human combustion. Subsequently, he finds out that he is a pillar and is required by the White Clad to bring about the second great cataclysm.

Fire Force is a complex story with comedy, organization, religion, and mystery. Indeed, it has all the necessary features to keep you glued to each page. In addition to a great story and unique fighting scenes, Fire Force has good character development. The truth behind spontaneous human combustion is a sinister one; pick up a copy to find out. Luckily, it has 34 volumes, so it is quite a read.

6. Haikyuu!! by Haruichi Furudate

haikyuu-best completed manga

The most popular mangas are shonen manga. However, if you are interested in the sports genre, then Haikyuu ticks all the right boxes. For Haikyuu, it leads us through the enticing gameplay and nuances of volleyball.

Even though the main character is Shoyo Hinata, the other characters are so well-developed that the story is well-balanced. The different characters have unique skills and strengths that they have perfected that give them an edge over others.

However, Shoyo Hinata seems to be underestimated by other players because of his height. To achieve his goal of being the best, he has to prove them all wrong by beating them all. This is no easy feat. Can it be achieved? Well, that’s left for you to find out.

Just like with most sports anime, the aim is to reach the peak of competition, in this case, the nationals. The journey to that goal is what this manga is about. With 45 volumes, Haikyuu is a very good manga to start with as a newbie or if you are trying to diversify into a new genre.

7. Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba & Takeshi Obata

death note

You have probably heard of this before, or at least seen a meme about it on social media. Every otaku doffs his or her hat to Death Note, as it is considered one of the classics. If you’re shopping for some psychological thrillers and mystery manga, then Death Note seals the deal.

Light Yagami, a teenage genius, finds a death note that has the ability to kill people when their names are written on it. This death note belongs to a shinigami named Ryuk and is capable of killing someone in whatever way you desire.

With so much power in his hands, Light decides to become the messiah and rid the world of criminals and corrupt officials. While embarking on a self-acclaimed noble quest, the authorities did not see it the same way. Eventually, an equally genius investigator gets determined to expose Light.

The manga series details how these two brainiacs try to outmaneuver themselves using tactics and strategies. Every twist and turn in this manga will have you itching to open the next page. You wouldn’t even know how you finished it in such a short time. Wanna know who comes out on top, find out for yourself.

8. Gintama by Hideaki Sorachi

Gintama-best completed manga

You might prefer to read comedy as an escape from an already stressful day. There is no better manga to satisfy this criterion than Gintama. This manga series is well known for its sense of humor, parody, and life lessons.

Set in the Edo period, the story shows how aliens, referred to as Amanto, invaded the world and overpowered the government. Now, humans have to adapt to their new way of life and several rules, including the abolishment of swords and samurai.

This has thrown ex-samurais into doing other things as a means of survival. This can be seen in the life of Sakata Gintoki, who does odd jobs to earn a living. However, unlike many others, he has not given up on his warrior spirit just yet.

Gintama handled its character development very well. There is a perfect blend of drama, fights, motivation, parody, and comedy. It is indeed an all-rounder of some sort and you will enjoy the whole 77 volumes.

9. Sweat And Soap by Kintetsu Yamada

sweat and soap

Want romance? I’ve got you. Sweat and Soap is a romantic manga, although it does not follow the classic approach like most other shoujo manga. It just portrays a romantic relationship between two adults and how it differs from others.

Asake Yamada is known to sweat a lot, resulting in low self-esteem and an accompanying consciousness about how she smells. She loves the company she works for because they make the only products that are able to mask her natural body odor, which she is embarrassed about.

However, Kotaro Natori, a top executive in the company, compliments her on the smell of her body, saying how lovely it is. This indeed sparks something in her, and feelings start to develop after each encounter they have.

If you are interested in romance manga with awkwardness, weirdness, and a lot of sexiness, then this manga checks all the boxes. It involves adult characters and can veer off the classic path we all know.

10. Dorohedoro by Q. Hayashida

dorohedoro-best completed manga

Shonen is the most popular category of manga, and only a few dive into science fiction, dark fantasy, and post-apocalyptic stories. However, Dorohedoro tackles them just fine with its unique and strange set of characters, where even the main character has a lizard head.

The story focuses on Caiman and his intent to find the sorcerer who made him a lizard head. During the course of his search, he killed countless sorcerers thanks to his immunity to magic. With time, a powerful group of sorcerers decided to go after him.

11. Tokyo Ghoul by Sui Ishida

tokyo ghoul

Are you intrigued by gore, horror, and bloodshed? If so, Tokyo Ghoul is definitely the manga you should go for. It is a very intriguing series with beautifully drawn panels and vivid images. It just had to enter the list of one of the best completed manga.

The story revolves around ghouls, which look like humans but have unique features when they transform, one of which is their red skin. The gore in this series stems from the fact that ghouls need to eat human flesh to survive, human food tastes nasty to them.

The main character, Kaneki Ken, was unfortunate to fall for a ghoul who intended to eat him. However, several mysterious incidents occurred, and he woke up half-human, half-ghoul. This single event changed his whole life.

This manga series is a must-read for horror lovers. The art does justice to the theme of the manga by detailing all the necessary features to convey gore and horror.

12. Attack on Titan by Hajime Isiyama

attack on titan

Welp, we had to end the list with a bang. With all the fuss AOT fans have been making, if you are on social media, then you have definitely heard the name. This is, for me, a manga series with one of the strongest plots in the manga industry. The unfolding of the mysteries of this series is nothing short of a marvel.

Growing up, Eren Yaegar always imagined what existed beyond the walls they live in. Together with his friend, Armin Arlert, they vowed to get out there and find out what existed beyond the walls. This prompted them to join the Scout Regiment, which goes on expeditions outside the wall.

However, as they face the outside wall, the reality of why they live within the walls hits them. During the story, a lot of mysteries and conspiracies were brought up. This can only be experienced by reading it. This is one manga I can tell you for sure that you will enjoy.

Conclusion [Best Finished Manga]

The completed manga is obviously more than a thousand, but that can’t really fit in here, can it? The manga listed above is regarded as the best based on my choice and that of a few others. Of course, these things are very subjective, but it is a given that you will love more than half of the manga on this list.
