Haikyu!! is a sports-themed anime and manga. The title ‘Haikyu’ literally means volleyball. You guessed right. Haikyu!! is an anime based on a manga of the same title by Haruichi Furudate. Fans of Haikyu!! can certainly testify that it is one of the best sports anime, and a must-watch if you haven’t, in the sports genre; sitting up there with the likes of Slam Dunk, Kuroko no Basuke, Hajime no Ippo, etc.

Haikyu!! tells us the story of Shoyo Hinata, a short high schooler who is inspired to become a volleyball champion like his idol – a volleyball champion that bears the moniker, “Little Giant”. Hinata teams up with his former rival, Tobio Kageyama, who now attends the same high school, and the two tread the path to becoming volleyball champions. This time, it was not as rivals but as teammates.

Haikyu!! was made into an anime series, and the anime premiered in 2014 and aired till 2020. The anime has spanned four seasons with a total of 85 episodes, along with four movies and five OVAs (Original Video Animations) at the time this was written.
